Eric Dier is set to be rewarded for his increased involvement under Jose Mourinho with a new Tottenham contract.
After having seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements by former boss Mauricio Pochettino, the midfielder has been gifted a second chance by Mourinho, starting all but one of the Portuguese manager's games in charge prior to kick off on Boxing Day.
Dier has just 18 months left on his contract but may now follow in the footsteps of Toby Alderweireld by committing his long-term future to the north London club.

According to The Telegraph, the deal could be worth up to £75,000 a week for the Englishman - a marked improvement from the last contract he signed back in 2016.
Last season was perhaps the 25-year-old's most challenging in England since joining the club from Sporting CP back in 2014. Injuries and illness blighted his campaign with Dier eventually requiring surgery on his hip.
The midfielder has also struggled to maintain his standing in Gareth Southgate's England team, with Jordan Henderson, Declan Rice and teammate Harry Winks all being preferred in a defensive midfield role.
However, the introduction of Mourinho, who typically likes strong and physical midfielders, has offered Dier a return to first-team football, an opportunity he appears to be taking with both hands.
His versatility also appears key to a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with his ability to cover at centre-back making him a key asset for Mourinho, who is in the market for a new central defender.
