Tottenham finished their 1-1 draw at Villa Park without either of their centre-halves who started the match.

Michael Dawson and Calum Davenport both picked up injuries. Dawson was withdrawn early in the second period while Davenport, who suffered a facial injury in the early stages was ordered off for a professional foul, having replaced Ledley King in the starting line-up.

The Spurs skipper was troubled yet again by a knee injury whilst on international duty last week.

Spurs boss Martin Jol, said: "Michael took a couple of knocks and we didn't want to take a risk with him and Calum broke his nose, so that didn't help.”

Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly also joined Teemu Tainio and Young Pyo-Lee on the treatment table.

"Ghaly pulled his hamstring, it was a pity because I thought he played well in the first half," added Jol.
