Goalscoring legend returns to Spurs

One of Spurs' all-time heroes is back at the club, as a coach. Clive Allen, current Sky Sports and ITV pundit and one time goal machine has been hired by caretaker boss David Pleat to help out on the training ground due to the recent departure of Colin Calderwood as Northampton Town boss. Allen scored 84 goals in 135 games for Spurs during his career at White Hart Lane, which spanned four seasons from 1984 to 1988, his penultimate season seeing him net a record-breaking 49 goals. Pleat said of his decision that he had wanted to 'bring in someone who I've always had at the back of my mind'. He stated that with Allen on the training ground, himself and Chris Hughton could spend more time concentrating on the team. If goals suddenly become hard to come by for Spurs, Pleat could do worse than turn to his new coach.
