Harry Kane is expected to continue to push for a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer even if former manager Mauricio Pochettino returns to the club.
Pochettino has asked to be released from his contract with Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with both Tottenham and Real Madrid keen to offer him a new home.
When reports of Spurs' interest in rehiring Pochettino first came out, it was suggested that chairman Daniel Levy hoped the Argentine would be able to convince Kane to stay at the club this summer, but The Times believe otherwise.
Kane is adamant that the time is right for him to leave and believes he has a verbal agreement with Levy, who fought off the striker's exit wish last summer by urging him to stay another 12 months. He plans to continue to push for an exit and is not interested in Levy's plans for the club.
The England captain fears Spurs are in need of too much work to become competitive again and does not believe that level of investment is forthcoming, and he doesn't think any manager would be able to turn the current team into champions.
Instead, he hopes to move to Premier League winners Manchester City, but he is also expected to listen to proposals from Manchester United and Chelsea.
Kane's exit wish is not expected to hinder Spurs' pursuit of Pochettino, whom the Daily Mail claim wants to return to his old club, but their quest to hire the Argentine for the second time was handed a blow by the revelation that PSG have triggered a one-year extension option in Pochettino's contract.
"Mauricio Pochettino has two years left on his contract here at PSG and we are very happy with him," sporting director Leonardo recently told Europe1, confirming the one-year extension in the process.
Nevertheless, Pochettino remains unhappy in Paris and his relationship with Leonardo and his boardroom staff is thought to have deteriorated to a perilous level.
Both Spurs and Real hope to take advantage of that, but the extra year on Pochettino's deal makes things harder than they already were.
