Harry Redknapp to go on trial for tax evasion

He has been charged with two counts of tax evasion during his time as manager of Portsmouth. Former chairman Milan Mandaric will also go on trial at Southwark Crown Court in July.

It is alleged two payments totalling ?185,000 weremade to Redknapp by Mandaric through a Monaco bank account.

Former Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie will also be tried on unconnected charges. Storrie and Mandaric will face a separate trial over tax evasion in May.

All three men have denied the charges following a three-year probe into Pompey.

Redknapp is charged with two counts of cheating the public revenue of approximately ?40,000 by evading National Insurance contributions. Mandaric is charged with tax evasion relating to the payment.

Storrie is charged with concealing a signing-on fee for Amdy Faye by paying it into the midfielder's bank account.
