Gomes, who arrived at Spurs from PSV in 2008, has had a mixed season at White Hart Lane this year.

The 30-year-old has excelled in most games, but looked back to his erratic and unpredictable worst with blunders against Chelsea, Real Madrid and Blackpool.

Tough time: Gomes has made a number of high-profile errors this season

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp insists that he has no plans to offload Gomes but he may consider bringing in another goalkeeper to provide competition for the Brazil stopper and Ben Foster and Brad Friedel are thought to be on the 64-year-old's radar.

Gomes spent four years at PSV before moving to London and he is now interested in a return to the Eredivisie side, according to one of the club's board members, sporting director Marcel Brands.

'He (Gomes) has let me know he is interested in a return to PSV,' Brands told Voetbal International.

'I have let him know I will look at what we can do for each other.? His contract only has one year left to run. There is not much more to say at the moment.'
