Jamie Redknapp's mishit shot in the last minute of the game gave Spurs victory and moved them back up to fourth in the Premiership table.
"It was a mishit shot without a doubt but Jamie had already missed a one-on-one and we had broken quickly and played aggressively," Hoddle said.
"But with the chances we created we should have had the game buried by then.
"It's three points in the bag and importantly we have stopped a little bit of a nasty run after we played well at Manchester United and lost, and played dreadfully against Middlesbrough and deservedly lost."
