Ledley King has withdrawn from the England squad with a knee injury.

The Tottenham defender missed training on Monday, while Rio Ferdinand who King replaced at the last minute against Macedonia at Old Trafford did train and suffered no reoccurrence to his back injury which forced him out on Saturday.

Spurs boss Martin Jol, said: “Ledley had a slight problem with fluid on his knee after the Macedonia game and England have made the right decision not to take him to Croatia.

“He has had this problem for the last couple of weeks, he's played and then afterwards he has a little inflammation or fluid but after a couple of days rest he's been fine and able to play again.
