Inter Join Paris Saint-Germain in Race to Sign Christian Eriksen as Tottenham Eye January Sale

Inter are keeping tabs on Christian Eriksen's situation, with the Italian side eager to secure the Dane's signature in the summer when his contract expires, while Tottenham are more keen on a January departure.

Eriksen's future has been a huge topic of debate during recent transfer windows, with the playmaker unwilling to commit his future to the club and instead seeking to depart the club when his contract expires in June, or potentially even before that.

That's not what Inter are hoping for, though, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. They would like Eriksen to see out his contract with Spurs and join them for free in the summer, with Antonio Conte a big fan of the midfielder's talents. Inter's directors have already begun contacts with Eriksen's agents, with a view to making that dream a reality.

However, Tottenham are resigned to losing Eriksen, therefore would prefer to see him sold for a fee this window. Di Marzio adds that they would be willing to part with the Danish international for a fee of €20m, which they deem a fair valuation given the length of his contract remaining.

The Serie A side may be forced to act quickly in that sense, while the report also adds other circumstances may too force their hand early. They revolve around the club's pursuit of Arturo Vidal, who Inter are aiming to bring in from Barcelona this January.

Conte would prefer to make immediate additions to his squad, as he looks to end Juventus' run of eight successive Scudetti. It is added that should the club be unable to add Vidal during the winter window then their pursuit of Eriksen will be ramped up, and a January deal a more likely possibility.

Equally, if they do move this window, it will give them a better chance of securing the Dane's signature, as the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG wait in the wings to snap him up for free in the summer.
