Jol content with steady start

Martin Jol told the Daily Mail: "We are in a good position now and it would be good to build on it. If you had told me we would be fourth after meeting two big teams like Chelsea and Liverpool in the first seven games I would be happy - and I am happy. We have kept five clean sheets in seven games and that is why we are not down at the bottom with teams like Villa and Fulham.

Jol's side included fit again Edgar Davids at White Hart Lane last night, and there was also a first start in midfield this season for Pedro Mendes.

"We were solid at the back again and our midfield was good. Ledley King was the game's outstanding player even though Davids was like a tiger," he added.
