Jose Mourinho dismisses suggestions that Tottenham have 'easy' Christmas fixture schedule

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at claims that his side have been handed a kind run of fixtures over the next few months.

Between Sunday's meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers and the trip to Chelsea on February 3, Spurs will only face one side currently sat in the Premier League's top eight - a clash with league leaders Liverpool on January 28.

It's a run of fixtures which many have suggested will give Spurs the chance to establish themselves as genuine title contenders, but Mourinho was keen to warn fans that every game in the Premier League has the potential to be difficult.

"I believe [Wolves could challenge the top six]," Mourinho said (via Goal). "But it's very hard in this league to have consistent runs, because every game is very difficult.

"We were in a period where we had to play against the considered top six teams, we got them all in a row, and now some people will say we are going to get an easier run of matches.

"What is easier? Going to Wolves, playing Fulham and Aston Villa is easier? It's not easier. We should be very happy [with where we are], and not sad with that, because it's a fantastic league, I believe."

The game will see Mourinho come up against a manager whom he knows very well. Nuno Espirito Santo was a goalkeeper in his Porto side who won the 2003/04 Champions League, but Mourinho confessed he's growing tired of answering questions about his former player.

"This is a question I answer for three years in a row! " he said. "Every time I play Wolves this question comes.

"You just need to copy and paste what I say: very good coach, great work, the results are there. You know my answer. He is a very good coach.

"You look to the table, how can you analyse managers with this table? It changes every week, every two matches. It is up and down."
