Levy moves to quell transfer speculation

After Saturday's craziness at White Hart Lane comes the madness of the January sales but club chairman Daniel Levy is determined there will be no repeat of the on field hedonism his side have reveled in when the transfer window opens on Tuesday.

"Juande, Damien and I have reviewed the squad and Juande feels that we are not looking at any major changes", Levy said in a statement on the club's official website.

"We are all clear that the January window is the worst time to buy quality players so we shall not be doing any business that is not essential."

The statement came after yet more speculation surrounding the future of Saturday's four goal hero Dimitar Berbatov, after Ramos refused to rule out the possibility of the Bulgarian striker leaving the club. His chairman, however, is adamant no one will be leaving in the coming month, saying: "Once again for the record, we are not a selling club, rather we are building for the future. When we have players on long contracts we have no need to entertain offers."

The club will complete the £3m capture of Cardiff's full-back Chris Gunter on Tuesday but Spurs fans should not expect to many players to join the 18-year-old Welsh international in switching to White Hart Lane this January.
