Lucas Moura Confident Jose Mourinho Can Lead Tottenham to Premier League Title

Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura believes Jose Mourinho is the right man to finally lead the club to the Premier League title.

Spurs currently sit top of the league after nine games, having already beaten both Manchester United and City, and some fans are starting to dream about the chances of ending the club's wait for silverware this season.

It was something that former boss Mauricio Pochettino was never able to do during his five-year spell at the club, but Lucas believes that Mourinho's reputation and determination to win are exactly what Spurs need to take the next step.

“We are building a very good mentality for the season and we made very good signings in the summer," Moura said (via The Guardian). "We know how difficult it is but why not to think to win the Premier League? We have the capacity to win. Every game that we play, every time we are on the pitch, we need to think we are able to win the Premier League.

“Mourinho wants to win a trophy here. He knows we are capable of winning. We have all that we need to win. He’s the right man to bring us to the trophy. We just need to trust in him and believe in ourselves. Now is the time. We have a great manager, we have great players and we need to speak about this.

“I have a very good feeling about this season. We need to think of every game like a final. We need to believe and trust in our team, our club and believe it’s possible because in football everything is possible.”

While Lucas already appears to be getting excited about his side's chances of winning the league, right-back Serge Aurier called for fans to take things one step at a time at this early stage of the season.

The objective is to try to stay [top of the league] for as long as possible," Aurier told RMC Sport (via ESPN). "We are very happy about what is going on and our position because we deserve to be top of the table. And I can't forget that we dropped some points stupidly at home against West Ham or Newcastle.

"However, I think it is too early to think about the title. We can't rush anything. A couple of weeks ago, Southampton were top of the table and then it was Leicester. Now it is us.

"We are trying to do better than last season. We didn't start well in the last campaign. It is much better already this season. We just want to be in the conversation and we are. We have big games coming up and we want more results like against Manchester City and we will continue to fight for the challenges to come.

"Of course, I can feel there is something special happening here. I am not a dreamer; I take things as they happen but today, we can be proud of ourselves for the start of the season that we have had.
We are all on the same page. As long as we are like this and we keep going forward, there will be no problems."
