Mauricio Pochettino Reveals Dream Aim With Tottenham as He Laughs Off Exit Speculation

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated his commitment to the club amid speculation he could be poached, revealing his 'dream' of delivering a trophy.

Spurs last won a major trophy in 2008 when Juande Ramos guided the team to League Cup success, but Pochettino has his eyes on a bigger prize when the club finally moves into their new stadium, more than half a century after the team were last champions of England.

Quizzed by the Italian press, translated by Sport Witness, ahead of this week's Champions League clash with Inter at Wembley, Pochettino stated, "My contract expires in 4 and a half years. If [Daniel] Levy does not fire me first…(laughs)," when addressing his Tottenham future.

"Seriously, today I see myself here," he then clarified.

"I dream of winning a trophy with Tottenham, maybe the Premier League in our new stadium. In the future to also guide the Argentine team is my desire.

"The important thing is to be happy and I am right now."

Pochettino was heavily linked with Real Madrid following the summer departure of Zinedine Zidane and the more recent sacking of Julen Lopetegui. He will no doubt be linked with the job again should current Bernabeu coach Santiago Solari come under pressure at any point.

Pochettino has additionally been linked to Manchester United, who are currently sticking by incumbent Jose Mourinho despite a near disastrous start to the 2018/19 season.

Pochettino's Spurs team overcame a minor blip earlier in the season and have won seven of their last eight Premier League fixtures. As a result, they sit just five points behind leaders Manchester City and have been able to leapfrog early contenders Chelsea.

As far as progression in the Champions League is concerned, though, things aren't so easy. Spurs must beat Inter at Wembley on Wednesday night, ideally by more than one goal, as well as take points off Barcelona on matchday six and/or hope that eliminated PSV Eindhoven can halt Inter in Milan.
