Nightmare few months for Stalteri

Paul Stalteri's medial ligament injury sustained in Carling Cup action last month "has come along well in the last week or so" according to the full back.

"It was a strange one in the sense that I don't recall what happened. I don't think I took a whack, but the ligaments in the knee were strained. I've had it before so I knew exactly what it was after it happened.

"At the beginning of the season I suffered with injury, got myself fit and then this happened. With all the games we have been playing I imagine there would have been a couple of opportunities to play so it has been very frustrating."

Injury update

Knee: Paul Stalteri (since 25 Oct), Anthony Gardner (since 4 Nov), Pascal Chimbonda (since 5 Nov) and Aaron Lennon (since 12 Nov).

Calf: Jermaine Jenas (since 12 Nov).

In the build up to Tottenham's Premiership match at Blackburn, Martin Jol reported that Calum Davenport and Teemu Tainio had both returned to training following hernia ops.

Both players have been named in the Reserves squad, which entertains Aston Villa this evening.
