Former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has revealed the best two-footed player he played alongside throughout his career.
The big man had a long and successful career in English football that saw him play in an FA Cup and Champions League final for the Reds, as well as being part of two World Cup squads with England.
For all of the illustrious names he has lined up alongside, including the likes of David Beckham, Gareth Bale and Wayne Rooney, Crouch made a surprise revelation as to the the best two-footed teammate he has ever had - the one and only Ledley King.
In a recent Q&A with the Daily Mail, the former forward spoke highly of his former Spurs colleague, explaining: "We were in Tottenham’s youth team together and you would see him doing these tricks with his left foot - round the worlds, step-overs, keepy-ups; He did it all so effortlessly, it was just insane.
"Then we would go into a match and he would start pinging these passes with his right foot – 20, 30, 40 yards, all like a laser. We would say to him: 'Ledley, are you right or left footed?' and he wouldn’t be able to answer," added the Englishman.
While King may not be the first player that springs to mind when you think of skilful players, there is no doubting the quality that the injury-plagued defender had.
The one-club man spent 13 years at White Hart Lane, as well as amassing 21 England caps, with Harry Redknapp famously stating that King would often not train throughout the week in order to remain fit for weekend fixtures .
Crouch continued: "I played with some phenomenal players, such as Steven Gerrard and Gareth Bale, who were predominantly one-footed. It didn’t matter to Ledley, however. He was just as comfortable with the ball on either side."
For King to mentioned in such esteemed company is high praise indeed.
