Steven Bergwijn and Ben Davies Doubtful for RB Leipzig Clash as Spurs' Injury Troubles Mount

Steven Bergwijn and Ben Davies are both doubtful for Tottenham's Champions League crunch tie with RB Leipzig on Tuesday, with neither of the duo taking part in their Monday training session.

José Mourinho's side certainly haven't had their troubles to seek on the injury front lately. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko are all out long-term, while fringe players Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon are yet to return to the pitch after respective issues.

But while there is some good news on the front of Tanguy Ndombele, who will be fine to feature despite some concerns about his withdrawal in the 1-1 draw with Burnley, the Evening Standard's Jack Rosser reports via Twitter that both Bergwijn and Davies have missed the final session before the last-16 showdown.

Davies returned after a prolonged absence owing to an ankle injury last month, but while there has been little word on either an exacerbation of that issue or a fresh knock arising, he was left out of the squad altogether at the weekend after starting their previous three in succession.

His absence from the match-day squad, followed by a no-show in training ahead of what is a massive 90 (or potentially 120) minutes for his side, is not likely to be coincidental.

In the case of Bergwijn, another Standard reported Dan Kilpatrick notes that he is suffering from an ankle problem despite having played 90 minutes at Turf Moor.

Tottenham will have to overcome a 1-0 deficit in Germany after a Timo Werner penalty consigned them to defeat in the first leg two weeks ago, but the absence of Bergwijn in particular makes that a far more difficult task - especially considering chief scorers Kane and Son will both be out.

The impetus is likely to be on Dele, Moura and Erik Lamela to make things happen in the final third in the absence of that attacking trio.

One thing they won't have to contend with is an empty stadium, however, as Leipzig confirmed earlier on Monday that the game would be open to spectators despite Covid-19 concerns.
