Steven Bergwijn First Photos With Tottenham Shirt Leaked Online as Winger Speaks of Excitement

Steven Bergwijn's move to Tottenham is thought to be all but officially finalised, with photos of the Netherlands winger posing with the club's shirt leaking online.

Reports on Spurs' concrete interest in the PSV forward first emerged on Sunday, though he has been a long term target for the north London side over the last few years.

Now, it appears all that's left is an official confirmation from Tottenham, with Bergwijn snapped holding their shirt aloft, while it also looks like Jose Mourinho has conversed with the 22-year-old.

Bergwijn even spoke of his excitement ahead of the imminent transfer, telling Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf"The Premier League, that is the highest achievable [league] for every football player. Yes, this is certainly a dream come true. It also feels like the right time to take this step.

"I have always looked up to a top coach like Mourinho. And now I'm going to play for him. It's great to be here. Just look at the facilities around us. When I play on the Playstation FIFA, I almost always choose a team from the Premier League. I look forward to playing in that great atmosphere."

Bergwijn has been one of PSV's better players this season, though the Dutch side have struggled and currently sit 11 points behind Eredivisie leaders Ajax. The winger has five goals and ten assists in Holland's top flight this term, sitting behind only Dusan Tadic and Hakim Ziyech in assists.

The transfer is expected to be announced imminently - with Fabrizio Romano giving the deal his patented 'Here we go!' - and Bergwijn will be Tottenham's third January signing ahead of Friday's deadline.

Gelson Fernandes was brought in on loan with an option to buy from Benfica, while Spurs have also confirmed the decision to make Giovani Lo Celso's loan a permanent deal - the Argentina international signing a contract until 2025.

Christian Eriksen's departure to Serie A title challengers Inter was confirmed simultaneously alongside the Lo Celso news.
