Steven Bergwijn Joins Tottenham From PSV Eindhoven on Deal Until 2025

Tottenham have officially confirmed the signing of Steven Bergwijn from Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven, with the winger signing a X-year deal with the north London side.

News of Spurs' move for the Netherlands international first emerged on Sunday, though he is a player they have monitored over the last few years.

While PSV have endured a frustrating season so far - they sit fifth in Holland's top flight, 11 points behind leaders Ajax - Bergwijn has performed well, picking up five goals and ten assists in 16 league appearances.

Tottenham have now confirmed the deal, revealing in a statement: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Steven Bergwijn from Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

Steven has signed a contract with the Club that will run until 2025 and will wear the number 23 shirt."

The transfer fee is thought be around the £27m mark.

Bergwijn was absent from PSV's squad for their clash with Twente on Sunday, prompting Dutch media to claim he refused to play for Ernest Faber's side. He later denied the reports, saying the manager gave him permission while talks over a move away from the Philips Stadion took place.

Bergwijn becomes Tottenham's latest January signing, joining after Gedson Fernandes was brought in on loan from Benfica with an option to make the deal permanent. Spurs have also taken up their option to sign Giovani Lo Celso for £27m following a string of impressive performances from the Argentina international.

The winger will likely compete with Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura, though that pair have been used as makeshift strikers since Harry Kane was struck down by a hamstring injury.
