With just a few days remaining before the transfer window shuts Martin Jol is planning to raise his bid ever so slightly above £6 million for Middlesbrough and England winger Stewart Downing.
However, the snag is that Downing doesn't want to leave his hometown club. Boro fans would also be furious if their star player departs the Riverside for a Premiership rival.
