His second debut for the club, at Old Trafford in the second week of September, didn't live up to his first.

Then again the two goals he scored against Portsmouth at White Hart Lane near the start of 2005 were his last in the Premiership for the next seven months.

Although the Egytptians' double strike against League Two opponents MK Dons on Wednesday night were goals merely added to his tally in this season's Carling Cup, his winner against West Ham United last weekend made up for the his four previous starts without a goal.

Following his switch from AS Roma, Mido was dropped for the clash at Liverpool a month ago after three games.

He said: "I was unlucky when I came in that Dimitar Berbatov was injured and I had to play straight away. I would have preferred to have taken it step by step, but I had to play three games in eight days and it wasn't easy for me."

Following the 3-0 defeat at Anfield, the striker was re-called for the home leg of Tottenham's first round UEFA Cup tie against Slavia Prague, but he missed out on opening his account again.

"I had a couple of chances in that game I missed and I was really disappointed about it," he added.
