Tottenham 0-3 Manchester City: Player ratings as City make it 12 WSL wins on the spin

Manchester City Women parked their Champions League disappointment at the door as they brushed aside Spurs 3-0 on their travels to make it a record-equalling 12 successive WSL wins.

City got the better of Barcelona during the week but a 2-1 win wasn't enough to overturn their 3-0 deficit from the first leg. Gareth Taylor's team set about to take their frustrations out on Tottenham and had the lead within five minutes when a Chloe Kelly corner caused havoc and found its way past Rebecca Spencer.

Spurs had a go at the title-chasers with Rachel Williams in particular looking lively, but the difference in quality was clear. The game was virtually settled shortly before half-time when Sam Mewis found Janine Beckie with a wonderful through ball.

The forward repaid her with a cool finish and City took a comfortable lead into the break.

The second half was pretty routine stuff from the visitors, and they were able to add a third before a slate of substitutions knocked the tempo out of the game. The creative Beckie sent a ball in from the left, allowing Kelly to turn it into the path of Caroline Weir - and, well, you know the rest.

Tottenham Women player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Rebecca Spencer (GK) - 6/10 - Great save to deny Mewis early on but went missing at the resulting corner which led to City's opener. Called on for a couple of great stops in the second half.

Esther Morgan (RB) - 5/10 - The youngster looked out of her depth on a few occasions and was terrorised by Beckie and the overlapping Esme Morgan.

Abbie McManus (CB) - 5/10 - Won't want to see a replay of the third goal anyway. Not awful but will have better games.

Shelina Zadorsky (CB) - 6/10 - Stood up to Ellen White and held her own in an intriguing battle of wills.

Siri Worm (LB) - 5/10 - Fairly non-eventful first half before being withdrawn at the break.

2. Midfielders

So-Hyun Cho (CM) - 5/10 - Caught dawdling on the ball once or twice and struggled to force herself into the game as City largely dominated the midfield battle. Brought off for the final 25.

Alanna Kennedy (CM) - 7/10 - Brought some composure and control to a Spurs midfield that desperately lacked it otherwise.

Kit Graham (CM) - 6/10 - Showed some intent to get forward but the game seemed to bypass her for long spells.

3. Forwards

Lucy Quinn (FW) - 4/10 - Lack of supply from midfield meant she was hardly in the game before being subbed off in the second half. Sacrificed for a change of shape.

Rachel Williams (FW) - 6/10 - Put herself about well and made herself a nuisance to the City centre-backs whenever Spurs got up the pitch. Subbed for the final 20.

Rianna Dean (FW) - 5/10 - Couldn't get any change out of the City back line, either from out wide or centrally as the game wore on. Lively and industrious but lacking in end product.

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Ellie Roebuck (GK) - 6/10 - Very quiet day at the office as the four in front of her let virtually nothing pass.

Georgia Stanway (RB) - 6/10 - Would clearly rather be further up the pitch but looked a capable deputy at right-back in the absence of Lucy Bronze.

Aoife Mannion (CB) - 6/10 - Named as a late change to the side after Alex Greenwood took a knock in the warmup. She's no Steph Houghton but looked capable.

Abby Dahlkemper (CB) - 8/10 - Thou shalt not pass.

Esme Morgan (LB) - 7/10 - Got up and down the left flank well and created a couple of chances with her crosses.

6. Midfielders

Caroline Weir (CM) - 8/10 - Saw plenty of the ball and dictated play in the final third. Coolly tucked away the third goal, because obviously she did.

Keira Walsh (CM) - 6/10 - Quietest of City's midfield three but displayed some quick thinking and a great range of passing - particularly in the later stages as Spurs tired.

Sam Mewis (CM) - 7/10 - Registered one of the best assists of the season with a long-range defence-splitter for City's second goal. Started both legs against Barcelona, so given a well-earned rest for the final half hour.

7. Forwards

Chloe Kelly (FW) - 8/10 - Looked a real menace with her dribbling off the right flank and caused problems with her set-pieces too, creating the opening goal with a wicked in-swinging corner.

Ellen White (FW) - 6/10 - Her 50th appearance for the club was functional, if not explosive. Rested for the final half hour.

Janine Beckie (FW) - 7/10 - Granted plenty of freedom and made the most of it with a composed finish for the second goal and a pre-assist (if that's a thing?) for the third.
