Tottenham 2-0 Dinamo Zagreb: Player ratings as Spurs secure first leg lead in Europa League last 16

From Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Spurs battled to a hard-fought 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie.

Harry Kane's brace was enough to give Tottenham a narrow but healthy advantage ahead of the second leg next week in Croatia.

Erik Lamela's dancing run after 25 minutes ended with a curling effort striking the Dinamo post, and Kane was on hand to convert the rebound from close range.

Tanguy Ndombele was brought down in the area just after the restart, and despite looking a certain penalty on rewatch, nothing was given.

But Spurs eventually found their second when Dinamo failed to clear Serge Aurier's driven cross, and Kane cooly slotted away to double Spurs' lead.

Substitute Gareth Bale missed from a few yards out in stoppage time, and so Spurs' lead remained at two ahead of the return leg.

Here are your player ratings from north London...

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Eric Dier was a leader at the back | Julian Finney/Getty Images

Hugo Lloris (GK) - 6/10 - Didn't have much to do but was there when called upon.

Serge Aurier (RB) - 7/10 - Par-for-the-course performance for a man having his most consistent season at Spurs. His cross eventually fell to Kane for the second.

Eric Dier (CB) - 7/10 - What Dier lacks in ability he makes up for in leadership. Marshalled the backline well in the absence of Toby Alderweireld.

Davinson Sanchez (CB) - 7/10 - Really come into his own in recent weeks, another solid performance.

Ben Davies (LB) - 6/10 - Every Ben Davies performance in the Europa League is the same - fine.

2. Midfielders

Moussa Sissoko (CM) - 6/10 - Not the most glamorous performance (rarely is with him), but did his job well.

Tanguy Ndombele (CM) - 6/10 - Couple of uncharacteristically hairy moments in possession in the first half, but made up for it by going to war and dropping Dinamo bodies in the second. Had a stonewall penalty appeal turned down.

Dele Alli (AM) - 6/10 - Was always probing, but without the end product as in recent performances.

3. Forwards

What more can we say about Kane? | Julian Finney/Getty Images

Erik Lamela (RW) - 7/10 - The Thursday night Maradona was at it again. Played a key role in Kane's goal and his energy kept Spurs afloat.

Harry Kane (ST) - 9/10 -
One of those performances that just screamed 'wow, this guy is insane'. Grabbed both goals and was largely Spurs' creative spark. Substituted late on and was spotted holding an ice pack to his knee, but didn't look serious.

Son Heung-min (LW) - 7/10 - Been confined to the very touchline more often in recent weeks, but was always a menace whenever in possession.

4. Substitutes

Gareth Bale (RW) - 6/10 - Had a free kick well-saved late on.

Lucas Moura (AM) - 6/10 - Pressed wildly but without much effect.

Steven Bergwijn (LW) - 6/10 - A decent cameo but perhaps needed to show more to win back his spot.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) - N/A - Booked for a cynical foul, suspended for the second leg.

Carlos Vinicius (ST) - N/A
