Inter and Tottenham have finally reached an agreement over the transfer of Christian Eriksen with the player set for a medical early next week.
The Dane has long been linked with a move away from Spurs, and Real Madrid came close to securing his signature in the summer. Since then, Inter has emerged as Eriksen's most likely destination and – following weeks of speculation – the two clubs have finally agreed a fee for the playmaker.
According to Alfredo Pedullá, Spurs have accepted a bid of €18m (£15.1m) for the player, with bonuses worth an additional €2m (£1.7m). This figure is considerable more than the £12.8m that Inter were reported to have raised their offer to a few days ago.
As reported by journalist Nicolò Schira, the final price is understood to have come as a result of a lengthy conference call between the two clubs, with the 'diplomatic work' of Eriksen's agent Martin Schoots and a number of intermediaries proving key in the successful hammering out of a deal.
The midfielder is believed to be signing a three-and-a-half year deal with the Nerazzurri and he is expected to travel to Milan for his medical next Tuesday.
Eriksen's departure comes after a successful seven season stay in north London where he racked up over 300 appearances. Arriving from Ajax in the summer of 2013 - as part of a spate of seven signings made in the midst of Gareth Bale departing for Real Madrid - he would go on to rack up 69 goals and 89 assists for the club.
Though Eriksen is likely to be remember fondly by Tottenham fans, he has been out of form this season. Lacking his normal attacking flair, he has only managed to register three goals and three assists in all competitions.
Eriksen will soon become the latest Premier League player to seal a move to Antonio Conte's side with Manchester United's Ashley Young and Chelsea's Victor Moses already arriving at San Siro in January.
