Tottenham Linked With Lille Sporting Director & Lyon Head of Recruitment Ahead of Backroom Shakeup

Tottenham have once again been linked with moves for Lille sporting director Luis Campos and Lyon head of recruitment Florian Maurice, as they look to strengthen José Mourinho's backroom team this summer.

Spurs are on the hunt for someone to lead the recruitment charge after backroom fixture John McDermott left to take up a role with the FA, and it seems they will look to France once again, having already poached Lille coaches Nuno Santos and Joao Sacramento when Mourinho was appointed.

Campos and Maurice duo are two of French football's recent unsung heroes, with Campos in particular grabbing the headlines for his stellar work at Monaco and Lille.

The 54-year-old is credited heavily for the development of Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, Thomas Lemar and Nicolas Pepe among a who's who of the country's most high-profile exports over the past few seasons, and it's reported by L'Equipe that Spurs are keen to bring him in to work with Mourinho.

But it seems the French side aren't making it easy for them on this occasion, and if he proves unattainable then there is another target on the horizon.

The French paper also say that the north London club are among those to have 'made an offer' to Lyon recruitment guru Florian Maurice, who has himself proved he has quite the eye for a player. Maurice is responsible for the development of one Tanguy Ndombele, who Spurs saw fit to shell out £54m on last summer, so it's obvious his work is rated highly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The appointment of Juninho as sporting director at Lyon is said to have knocked Maurice's nose out of joint, as he no longer has the influence he once did.

This won't be an easy appointment either, however - L'Equipe say that Rennes are currently leading the charge to bring him in, while there is no shortage of interest elsewhere in Europe for the 46-year-old.
