Tottenham looking to announce new manager before end of the season

Tottenham want to announce the appointment of a new manager before the end of the season following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho was relieved of his duties just six days before the Carabao Cup final - bringing down the curtain on a reign which lasted less than 18 months - with Ryan Mason placed in the Spurs hotseat on an interim basis.

Speculation has been rife regarding who could replace the Portuguese tactician, with Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers understood to have distanced himself from rumours linking him with the vacant post.

Spurs were dealt another hammerblow earlier this week as highly-rated German boss Julian Nagelsmann was confirmed as Bayern Munich's new manager when Hansi Flick leaves the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, leaving Daniel Levy two names down on his shortlist already.

Despite the setbacks, Football London report that the club are aiming to appoint a new manager before the end of the campaign, likely to begin duties in pre-season. Their report adds that Spurs are looking to appoint a progressive, attacking-minded manager who suits the club's culture.

One of the names continually linked with the Spurs job since Mourinho's sacking has been Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has been in charge of the Eredivisie giants since 2017 and has helped to integrate a host of youngsters into the first-team squad.

He's also guided the club to numerous pieces of silverware and came within seconds of reaching the 2019 Champions League final before suffering late heartbreak against...yep, Spurs.

Other names reportedly in the frame are Brighton boss Graham Potter, former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and former RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick.
