Tottenham Target Willian Jos Calls Spanish Press 'Liars' Amid Claims of Refusing to Play

Tottenham transfer target Willian José launched a scathing attack on the Spanish press during an open training session, as he continues to agitate for a move away from Real Sociedad.

The 28-year-old joined Real in 2016 and has since gone on to score 53 goals in 130 appearances for the club, including eight in 22 this campaign. Despite the longevity of his service, José now appears set on forcing a move away from the Whites and Blues.

According to Spanish publication AS, the Brazilian refused to be included in La Real squad that beat Espanyol in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and has been 'reprimanded by the club' for his disruptive behaviour.

He has since taken out his anger over failing to secure a move to Spurs on the Spanish media. The same report states that the striker told reporters that were attending an open training session: "Record, record it so that you can tell your lies!" José is then reported to have repeatedly shouted "Liars!" while he trained.

Though his actions are likely to increase the chances of his achieving the Real exit that he craves, Spurs are understood to have cooled their interest in the player. José had been earmarked as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, who is out until at least April with a hamstring issue.

Kane's injury leaves just 17-year-old Troy Parrott as the only fully fit, natural striker at the club, though manager José Mourinho does not feel that the young Irishman is ready for first team football.

Despite this, José (Willian, that is) isn't thought to be one of Spurs' primary transfer targets, despite reports from Spain earlier in the week suggesting that a deal was imminentSociedad, meanwhile, take on RCD Mallorca on Sunday and although manager Imanol Alguacil has not ruled the player out for selection, it is very unlikely that José will be involved.
