Tottenham want to open talks with PSG over Mauricio Pochettino on Monday

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to negotiate with Paris Saint-Germain over the potential return of Mauricio Pochettino to White Hart Lane, with talks set to kick off on Monday.

The north Londoners are aiming to bring the Argentine back home after his sacking in November 2019, but they must first negotiate his release from current employers PSG.

And The Sun reports that Spurs are ready to begin talks to re-hire Pochettino next week, in the hope that he can repair and restore the club following Jose Mourinho's damaging reign.

Pochettino still has one year remaining on his current deal in the French capital, but he has grown weary and unhappy over how the club is run behind the scenes, which has created a fractious relationship between the Argentine and sporting director Leonardo.

So Spurs will fancy their chances in negotiating an exit from Paris and bringing him back to his former home, where he enjoyed some memorable moments with the club. Pochettino took Spurs to their first ever Champions League final in 2019, where they were eventually beaten by Liverpool.

But a poor start to the following season saw him sacked by chairman Daniel Levy, who then hired Mourinho in an attempt to win trophies. Although the Portuguese boss reached a Carabao Cup final, he was unable to secure any silverware, and was then relieved of his duties in April 2021.

Tottenham are in need of a rebuild, and they want Pochettino to be the man to fire them back into top-four contention. His return could also convince talisman Harry Kane to stick around, with the England captain very vocal over his desire for a fresh challenge this summer.

Chairman Levy will be determined to keep hold of the Premier League's top scorer, and could use Pochettino's return as the perfect incentive to persuade Kane that north London is his permanent home.
