Ziege has been sidelined since December with a thigh injury and picked up the injury to his knee on his return to training.

However, scans have revealed no serious damage, and he is to step up his rehabilitation with a view to a return to first team action before the season closes in May.

"I twisted the knee in a clash during training and a little piece of cartilage got rough," Ziege told the Evening Standard.

"The ligaments are okay and I am able to continue my strength training.

"If everything goes to plan I will still be able to play a few league games for Spurs during this season."
