An excellent leveller by the central defender on 19 minutes levelled the score after the home side had started brightly and taken an early lead.

From then on it was pretty much one-way traffic. Stuart Lewis and Simon Dawkins twice both missed opportunities to score so it was left to Terry Dixon to squeeze Tottenham's noses in front after 33 minutes. Charlie Daniels was unfortunate not to increase the lead, but Jacques Maghoma had more luck with his individual effort that ended up in the top corner after 40 minutes. Dawkins made it 4-1 before half-time.

who sprinted clear of his markers and struck high into the net past the despairing right arm of keeper Bonfield.

A very impressive performance from Jamie Davis was rewarded with two goals in the second half. Substitute Jake Livermore added to Enfield's misery with a smart lob.

Clive Allen: "We had a little shock early on because we caused our own problems, but that just fired the lads up. I talked about the way we started at half time. It took a little while to find our match legs but once we played in the right way and got ourselves going, the approach play was good and the finishing came right so it was an excellent start for us and I thought we played some good football. Some of our play was excellent, there were some very good goals - good performances too. I was delighted with it. We deserved our goals and the result. For all the hard work and leg work we put in on the training ground, it gave us an indication of where we had got to because I thought we looked in pretty good shape and they've all come back in the right condition."
