The home side took a 1-0 lead after 16 minutes.

Robert Burch then made a couple of great saves after 35 and 38 minutes, within a minute of those Andy Barcham broke away to equalise.

Barcham then set-up Simon Dawkins to put Clive Allen's side ahead just before the break.

It took only a minute for Tomas Pekhart to score after coming on at half time to increase Tottenham's lead.

Sub goalkeeper Tommy Forecast then saved a penalty after 72 minutes.

Lens got a small consolation thanks to second half substitute Troy Archibald-Henville's own goal at the very end.

Burch (Forecast, 46), Ifil, Daniels, Lewis, Lee (c), Mills (Archibald-Henville, 46), Fraser-Allen (Pekhart, 46; Hutton, 65), Livermore, Barcham, O'Hara, Dawkins. Unused sub: Smith.

Skipper Charlie Lee has joined Millwall on a one month loan agreement with the south London League One side.

Philip Ifil who has just signed a contract extension at the club enjoyed two loan spells at the New Den last season.
