It seems that there is a lot of work from the agent to bad mouth Tottenham, but as usual it is this sort of unprofessionalism that agents take to in an attempt to force the hand.
Looking at Bentaleb's season he has improved as a player, however he has not seen the same meteoric rise to fame as Kane has. I remember seeing numerous games where Bentaleb struggled not to lose the ball. Although he has not shown a consistent improvement I do agree that the player deserves a reward for his performance. Monetary or not is not relevant to me, but players seem to feel that they can renegotiate their contracts after 1 good game.
For me it is not fair and FIFA, UEFA and the FA should put a stop to it.
However back to Nabil.....
The interest shown by the "top clubs" in Europe is not a huge surprise, but they would not be willing to put their money where their mouths are after 1 season that showed improvement and great potential.
Should Tottenham fend off the interest and increase his wages... Yes. But the agent is not playing this the right way. The player has a contract until 2018 and he only reason that the agent is chirping up is to get commission on a newly agreed contract.
What should be noted is that the agent states that Nabil should be on the same wage as the "average" premier League player. How was this "average" worked out? The likely way is to their benefit not the actual wage. If Bentaleb is on say £20k a rise to £25k is acceptable, however a rise from £20 - £40k is ridiculous. If a player single handedly gets results for their team this is different, but based on Nabil's season I feel a fair wage is between £20 & £30k.
What are your thoughts?
Should Levy cough up? Should Levy dismiss the agent? Should the player be called in and disciplined for allowing his agent to go public with private financial matters?
